Driving up it seemed that the location was only a shipping yard filled with trucks and empty parking spaces though 50 plus cars were planning to show up. The roll in started around 7 and already two of the sickest skylines, an R34 GT-T and R33 GTR were parked waiting to find their assigned spots. Later many of the cars we saw at Wek started to roll in. All builds and manufacturers were invited, so we had everything from American classics to Euro, to of course all the JDM goodness you can’t see anywhere else on earth. It was obvious to invite one of our favorite drivers in Tokyo, Junpei in his E46.
As the night progressed we realized our size calculations was a bit off for 50+ cars. So Akira got to playing real life tetris and somehow figured out a way to fit everyone. As you can see in the images from that night, you can find some of the madness Mori and Akira had brought together. As I mentioned before, there was a huge variation between each vehicles style though it was a great balance between all at the same time. Placing a kanjo style Civic next to a pure american classic, the 70’ Camaro from Jun at HARDCORE TOKYO. Then the HARDCORE Mustang rumbling in. Being in Japan, these cars and the sounds they make really help you realize how much V8’s can sound so great in somewhere they are a bit more uncommon.
All in all, every car that participated at this Point of Interest event deserved to be there. Clean builds that didn't get a chance to show at Wek, had a second opportunity to have some fun here. And soon in the near future another POI Tokyo will be happening, and we hope that it will continue to grow and bring people together to enjoy what we all love.
